My name is Dawn and I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. My desire is to work with you and help you sort through the “puzzle pieces of life” that you bring to the counseling sessions, recognizing the process of therapy can feel like taking scattered, sometimes disconnected, pieces of information about yourself—thoughts, emotions, behaviors, past experiences—and gradually making sense of them in a way that brings clarity and understanding. I want to work with you to help you find the tools to put those puzzle pieces together and reach your goals.
Central to my therapeutic approach is the belief that the counseling process is a collaborative alliance and we will work together to address physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs using a variety of methods.
I received my Masters degree in Counseling from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and also hold a M.Div. degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor and completed the Approved Clinical Supervisor Training from UNC-Greensboro. I also have a certification in Critical Incident Stress Management.
During my counseling career I have worked primarily with children, adolescents, adults and couples addressing a variety of concerns and issues ranging from issues including depression, anxiety, abuse, self-esteem issues, anger management, communication problems, family of origin issues, marriage, grief, stress management, behavioral problems, trauma, and spiritual concerns. I currently focus on working with adults, either individuals or couples. Prior to my training as a LCMHC I had over ten years experience as a Minister of Youth, Children, and Christian Education.
I believe healing, both physically and emotionally, begins with an understanding and recognition of the spiritual dimensions found in a Christian perspective that God is ultimately the source of healing through His love, truth and grace.
